Changes for 2012, and a Big Fat Sale

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you have had a wonderful, fun-filled, relaxing time!

We have some changes happening at Inner Earth Soaps for 2012:

1) No More Bondi Markets. I've had enough of the set-up; pack-down; exposing my products to wind, dirt and rain; parents allowing their children to handle (and damage) products without so much a care; trying to explain to misinformed customers that yes, soap really does contain LYE and it's not bad for you ... etc etc. I'm just totally burnt out on all that stuff. I will miss my lovely regulars, but in the end it's just not enough to keep me going. I will say this though: if you live in Bondi and you'd like to save on postage, and you spend $50 or more, I will happily deliver to you free of charge.

2) More Soap, Less Other Stuff. If I have learned one thing in this year, it's that I love making soap. Can you tell? Lol. This year I will be pouring my creative energies into more seasonal and limited edition soaps, and even branching out into children/fun soaps which I haven't really focused on before. Hand & Body Creams will be down-sized to just 4 or 5 permanent scents. Perfumes will be the same, with a few limited edition ones here and there. Facial Masks will be discontinued completely.

3) Perfume Roll-Ons. You may remember a while ago that I changed from roller-ball perfumes to dripolator bottles. Well, it turns out most people don't like using them! And guess what? Neither do I. So new perfume roll-on bottles are on order. The catch is, I won't be shipping them overseas, because that's when they seem to have leaking problems, probably from being in the hot/cold air pressure in transit for so long. Now if you are outside of Australia and you want perfume oils, I can send the roll-ons at your specific request (but at your own risk), or make custom ones for you in the dripolator bottles.

And lastly, we are having a big fat SALE to spring clean the shop and get ready for the new changes. Perfumes in the dripolator bottles, xmas soaps, selected hand & body creams, and facial masks are all just $5. Yes you heard me, $5! If that's not enough for you, I'll sweeten the deal: if you spend $30 or more in the $5 Holiday Sale Section and use the code FREESHIP you will also receive free shipping!
  • FREESHIP discount is only applicable for Australian customers, and will only work in the $5 Holiday Sale section - if you add items from other sections regular shipping for that item will apply. You must spend $30 or more to receive the free shipping.
  • If you are outside of Australia and would like to take advantage of the $5 sale items, please email me for a paypal invoice at innerearthsoaps@yahoo.com.au (but full price shipping will apply)
  • You can use the FREESHIP code until midnight on Friday 6th January (Sydney time), after then items will still be on sale but no free shipping.
  • Sale items are only available from our Big Cartel store.
  • No custom requests at the $5 prices, only what we have in stock, until they run out
  • No reservations ... first in, best dressed! Happy shopping!

  1. Hi Erin,
Happy New Year! I've been meaning to buy up on the Winter Woods soaps and face masks because the huge stash I bought and received as gifts for Christmas last year has finally come to an end! I received one of the Winter Woods soaps as a gift last year and absolutely loved it. Sad to hear you're finishing up on the face masks as well... I think they're fab.

  2. Happy New Year to you too :)

Wow lots of exciting things happening for you. I have to say some of it is speaking to me especially the market part but for now that makes up the bulk of my sales. I've been at it for 9 years and find what you mentioned about markets so frustrating.

Hoping to transition into more online sales and started my Etsy shop.

  3. Michelle, the markets make up a large amount of income for me too. It wasn't an easy decision. I'll be making up for it in other ways, either with more wholesale/online sales, or part-time flexible work on the side.

  5. I hear you! Fortunately, the market hasn't been too bad for me. I enjoy the face-to-face sales. But I do struggle with making products other than soap! Sales aren't as good - but part of that is because I don't market them like I market my soaps. :) Best wishes to you!!

  6. Often making the decision is the hardest part ~ enjoy the change of pace Erin. I have only really just started with my market stall and forsee it continuing for this year. I hear you on the wind, dirt, rain and children though!

I think I am going to take you up on your special sale... I have been hankering after your soap for a while now and with my birthday coming up, what better way to treat myself than with gorgeous handmade soap? :) xx
